The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre (NLRHC) provided residents with an update on its COVID-19 response.
As of July 22, there are no active cases of COVID-19 in Fort McMurray.
Despite low cases of the illness across the region, Alberta noted a spike in new cases in the province.

Like all Alberta Health Services (AHS) facilities, the hospital said it follows rigorous Infection Prevention and Control standards.
“All healthcare workers are asked to self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure risk using a screening tool before reporting to a site for their shift, and our frontline teams are practicing continuous masking while at work.”
AHS also screens patients prior to entry.
Visitor restrictions remain in place to reduce the spread of outside transmission into the NLRHC.
Upon screening, officials remind all visitors to follow appropriate health measures.

AHS said the hospital notices a return to normal volumes at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
It added most visits are non-COVID related.
“Our hospitals and emergency departments remain a safe place to come and to receive care – there is no increased risk to patients coming to hospital. Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated away from other patients.”
The NLRHC said if someone believes they have a serious or life-threatening injury or illness, they should proceed straight to their ED or call 911.
