Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Bouchier have announced the second nominee in the Women of Inspiration Series.

Victoria Brown, a single mother who has called Fort McMurray home for 12 years, is an HR professional and entrepreneur.

She launched her clothing line LIGHTS apparel in 2019.

The clothing line focuses on and supports mental health.

For every piece of clothing bought, money is put toward a local mental health initiative.

“She is no stranger to the struggles of mental health conditions, as she grew up in a small town in Newfoundland that had little to no mental health supports. Brown uses her lived experience and voice to help end the stigma surrounding mental illness. ”

Brown’s message to young girls in the region is to get out of their comfort zones and remember not everyone comes from a place a privilege.

The deadline to submit an application for their third nominee is Aug. 30.
