On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, police responded to the scene of an act of vandalism on a vehicle parked by a Timberlea grocery store.

Wishing not to be identified, the victim came forward alleging it was a hate crime.

On Wednesday night, the victim said their family drove to the store, parked the family vehicle, and entered to shop for groceries.

When the family exited the store, they found their vehicle vandalized with literature attached to it as well.

Initial figures from the victim estimate the damage at least $1000.

The person alleged they were the target of a racially motivated crime because they are in an inter-racial marriage.

They added they worry other residents in the area may be next.
