COVID-19 response in Alberta takes positive turn

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw confirmed the additional cases Monday, April 6.

Alberta presented a special 96-hour update on COVID-19 response.

There are eight new cases and seven recoveries of the illness in the RMWB over that four-day period.

Fort McMurray has nine active cases and 58 recovered cases, while there are five active cases and 49 resolved cases outside the urban service area.

Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, thanked Albertans for their vigilance during the August long weekend.

She added daily rates of new COVID-19 cases appear to be on a decline.

Over the last four days, there are 303 new cases of COVID-19.

On July 31, there were 97 new cases, Saturday had 67, 74 on Sunday, and Monday Alberta had 65 new cases.

85 Albertans are in hospital with COVID-19, including 23 in intensive care.

There were five additional deaths of COVID-19 throughout the province during that time span.

Three deaths have ties to the Good Samaritan Southgate care centre in Edmonton, Alta.

Alberta has 1191 active cases, 201 deaths, and 9754 recovered cases of COVID-19.

Alberta Health officials completed 720,131 tests in the province.
