Residents may register to attend open houses on flood risk

The Municipality invites residents to share their thoughts on flood risk this August.

Community Conversations continue with open houses starting Aug. 11.

Deputy CAO Matthew Hough said feedback from those sessions will shape the administration’s final report, which they will present to Council on Sept. 15.

“We need to continue to hear from residents and property owners. While the way forward for some is obvious, the way forward for the community is not. There are many different paths that we can take to increase our community resilience against flooding.”

Public health measures tied to the COVID-19 pandemic remain in effect.

Residents wishing to attend must register in advance of their visit.

To ensure full participation, the Municipality asked residents to attend only one session.

Open houses will take place at the following locations and times:

  • J. Howard Pew Memorial Family Park: Aug. 11 at 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Aug. 12 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Snye Park: Aug. 18 at 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Aug. 19 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • MacDonald Island Park – Parking Lot: Aug. 25 at 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Aug. 26 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Breakout rooms for each of the flood-impact communities are available at each open house.
