Startup YMM will pilot the Lean Entrepreneur Acceleration Program (LEAP) on its maiden launch in Wood Buffalo.

Partnering with one of North America’s tech incubators, Launch, the program teaches entrepreneurs how to launch, fund, and grow a successful startup.

Jenn Warren, Economic Development Officer for the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (WBEDC) is also a LEAP Project Lead.

She said there is no other program like LEAP in the region.

“LEAP is designed to help turn ideas into successful businesses and will benefit any entrepreneur ready to roll up their sleeves and commit to the in-depth program work.”

Warren added material taught in the 10-part series will help entrepreneurs find their focus while saving time and money.

Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation with the WBEDC, Natasha Hartson said it’s a core learning opportunity.

“Our partnership with Launch will help grow our expertise and build local resources for entrepreneurs using a program proven to create thriving businesses.”

This pilot program is free of charge for Wood Buffalo entrepreneurs and uses the online Zoom platform for virtual classes.

LEAP Classes begin Aug. 11 continuing Tuesdays and Thursdays until Sept. 10, 2020.

WBEDC said registration now full, but interested residents may apply for a spot on the waiting list.

Following the pilot, Startup YMM hopes to include LEAP in its core programming.
