Lowe’s Canada confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 has ties with its RONA Fort McMurray location.

On Aug. 10, the parent company received confirmation from the store associate, who last worked at the hardware store on July 26.

A Lowe’s media relations representative said the store took action in addition to cleaning and disinfecting measures already in place.

“To protect the health and safety of our associates and customers, we proceeded [to] extensive cleaning and disinfecting of the premises on August 10. We also duly notified local public health authorities of the situation and explained the measures taken at the store and the store remains open.”

Lowe’s notified local public health authorities of the situation and explained the steps taken prior to re-opening the store.

As the associate was not in the store for 14 days, Lowe’s has not asked other associates to self-isolate.

RONA Fort McMurray’s location is on 8408 Manning Avenue.
