Pre-registration is online for members of Arts Council Wood Buffalo (ACWB) for ‘Marketplace’.

ACWB Executive Director Liana Wheeldon said the free online resource allows its members to get their local products to market.

“We’re excited to announce that Marketplace is almost ready, and we’re inviting local artisans to pre-register. Marketplace is intended to support the community, and give artisans and shoppers another way to participate in the arts in a meaningful way.”

Pre-registration started Aug. 13 with the full launch of the platform scheduled in September.

Marketplace received funding from the Canadian Red Cross through the Arts Recovery Project.

Sharon Heading, Special Projects Manager for ACWB, said they held engagement sessions with its membership.

They learned artisans need more places to sell their wares.

“Marketplace is a tool to help artisans take their passion for the arts to the next level by selling their products and becoming even more involved in the arts community.”

‘Getting To Sold’ workshops will continue running between Aug 12-20, 2020.

They teach artists taking crafting to a simple hobby to market.

Heading said Marketplace is the next logical step in teaching practical experience.

Marketplace will sell products from at least five categories like textiles, ceramics and glassware, paper products, furniture and other functional items, and fashion.

More information about Marketplace and a link to pre-register is available on the ACWB website.
