Vardy said she is ecstatic for the opportunity to join other participants in the community in the popular leadership program.

“My future goals include completing my Ph.D. in Social Psychology and using that knowledge, skill, and education to create preventive programs that will lower the number of children in abusive households. While attending the Leadership Wood Buffalo program, I hope to further develop my skills in community collaboration.”

Vardy oversees the FMFN Childcare Services Department and the Child and Family Support Department.

Any person applying to the Leadership Wood Buffalo program may apply for the Sana Elache Bursary.

The bursary covers one full paid tuition for the year of the program.

The selection committee comprises of members of Leadership Wood Buffalo alumni, FuseSocial Board of Directors, and the social profit sector.

It graded Vardy and other applicants using the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership with Vardy scoring well in each of them.

The practices are the following: Modeling the Way, Inspiring a Shared Vision, Challenging the Process, Enabling Others to Act, and Encouraging the Heart.

Elache served as the founding Executive Director of Leadership Wood Buffalo.

She also served as the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo’s Board President.
