A local restaurant confirmed ties to an employee that tested positive for COVID-19.

Earl’s Kitchen and Bar in downtown Fort McMurray said the employee last worked at their location on Aug. 18, 2020.

Managing Partner Stu Wigle said upon receiving results of the test on Aug. 30, Earl’s notified all close contacts, who are in mandatory quarantine until they are safe to return to work.

“Since the minute we found out about the result we have worked with Alberta Health Services and followed all protocol. We have taken the additional step of closing our restaurant and delivery services for 24 hours to allow for a full clean and professional disinfection to take place. This is out of an abundance of caution and our care and concern for our staff and patrons.”
Earl’s released a full statement on their Facebook page.

Wigle said Earl’s will continue working with Alberta Health Services following all public health guidelines.
