Alberta reported seven new cases and five recoveries of COVID-19 in Fort McMurray.
There are 33 active cases and 93 recovered cases of the illness within the urban service area, while there are one active and 60 resolved cases outside the urban service area.

The province included the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre to its list of outbreak locations.
Alberta also included Suncor’s Base Plant operations and Syncrude’s Mildred Lake site.

Across Alberta, there are 164 new cases, no deaths, and 146 recovered cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
The province has 1433 active cases, 242 deaths, and 12,799 resolved cases of the illness.
Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, reminded Albertans to remain vigilant during the upcoming September long weekend.
“We can not afford to be reckless. COVID-19 does not take holidays, and we’ve seen weekend barbeques and other gatherings spark outbreaks in the past. I want to encourage all Albertans to have fun while making safety a priority this weekend.”
Hinshaw said travellers should be aware of any additional health restrictions, bring masks and hand sanitizers, and make backup plans.

47 Albertans are currently in hospital receiving treatment, including nine in intensive care.
To date, Alberta health officials conducted a total of 1,005,001 tests.
Hinshaw thanked the health officials and volunteers who took samples as well as primary care physicians who assisted with follow-ups.
