“The Alberta Energy Regulator approved the installation of an approximate 400-meter bypass pipeline that enables the western portion of the Polaris pipeline to safely transport diluent to its customers north of Fort McMurray.”

The investigation into what caused the incident will continue, along with repair and remediation work.

Inter Pipeline maintained there is no risk to the public, wildlife, and environment.

The company said it appreciates the public’s ongoing cooperation in avoiding the area as crews continue their work.
