No injuries reported as Air Canada flight to YMM encounters mechanical issue.

Passengers and crew on board an Air Canada flight from Calgary to YMM had a safe yet interesting flight.

On Sept. 14, flight AC8375 from Calgary, Alta., was en route to Fort McMurray International Airport.

RJ Steenstra, President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority, said the De Havilland DHC-8-400 Dash 8Q aircraft encountered a mechanical issue in flight.

“Inbound Air Canada flight 8375 encountered a mechanical issue in flight and landed safely at YMM at approximately 16:55. The outbound flight (8376, 20:00) was cancelled due to mechanical issues and impacted travellers have been rebooked.”

Teri Udle is the Manager of Corporate Communications and Brand Management for Air Canada Jazz.

Udle said there were no injuries to passengers or crew.

“The crew received an indication of an irregularity with one of the engines. As a precautionary measure, the crew shut down the engine.”

No word if Air Canada removed that particular aircraft from service.

Flights to and from YMM since resumed as normal.
