Wood Buffalo Cycling Community asking for return of carving

A carving featured on one of the region’s cycling trails has gone missing.

The Wood Buffalo Cycling Community (WBCC) noticed the peace carving done by Cameron Redshaw had gone missing earlier this month.

Member of the WBCC Tammy Slauenwhite said that Redshaw made the carving before moving from the region.

“I carved this peace sign in the forest as a symbol of my wishes for peace in the forest after the wildfire tore through it, and as a way to say goodbye to the community in my own way,” said Redshaw in a social media post.

Slauenwhite explained that the trail that featured the carving wasn’t used as much because it was overgrown and several trees were down.

Once the trail was cleared, a group of riders went out to ride on Sept. 20 and noticed the symbol of peace was gone.

Slauenwhite said that the group just wants to carving back.

She said that whoever has it can message her on Facebook, or even just take it back to its original location.

If the carving is returned, the group plans to resurrect it in a different location.
