RCMP investigating additional reports of shootings in Fort McMurray

Wood Buffalo RCMP received multiple reports of shootings in the city of Fort McMurray.

One incident occurred near a downtown residence on Oct. 8, 2020.

On Oct. 5, 2020, at 2:45 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired downtown.

RCMP said they will investigate the time frames between 2:00-3:00 a.m. on the night in question.

There were no personal injuries related to the incident.

Wood Buffalo RCMP received another report of shots fired in the neighbourhood of Dickinsfield later that day.

Police responded to a Britnell Road residence, where they would report no personal injuries related to that incident.

RCMP seek public assistance in identifying any suspicious persons or events in that area between 5:00-7:30 a.m. on Oct. 5.

They added they don’t believe there is any danger to the public, but police said the shooting was not a random act.

Wood Buffalo General Investigation Section will take over these investigations.
