Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) season starts Oct. 15, and with that comes improvements to the program.
The municipality has announced that this season it will remove windrows created by plows at the end of driveways.
Windrows will be removed when they are higher than 15cm and in an active WMZ.
Director of Public Works, Keith Smith said they know snowbanks at the end of a driveway can be challenging.
“The adjustments made to the WMZ program should make winter a little easier by helping people on residential streets clear their driveways when a snowplow creates a large windrow.”
He added that it’s important to support crews by keeping up to date on the status of WMZ and ensuring your vehicles are off the street when your subzone is active.
All subzones are relaxed until further notice.
Once subzones become active, there will be on-street parking restrictions on that subzone’s day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Your vehicle could be ticketed or towed if it’s parked in an active WMZ.
