Councillor Krista Balsom has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

She said she’s looking forward to continuing her efforts with the board, which works to ensure municipal needs are reflected in federal policies.

“I appreciate the confidence shown in me by my municipal colleagues and I plan to advocate even harder for our Region, Alberta and Canada on municipal issues that affect us,”

During her first year as FCM Director, Balsom was a member of the Rural Forum, the Standing Committee on Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Relations, the Standing Committee on Women’s Participation in Politics, and the Standing Committee on International Relations.

Mayor Don Scott said he is pleased she will represent our region.

“As a FCM director, Councillor Balsom has been a proud and active voice for our Region and our province, especially in the fight for national support on energy infrastructure and policy,”

The election for directors and officers is usually held in June during an annual conference, but that conference was postponed due to COVID-19.
