Four mayors from across Alberta announced they will hold a press conference for Oct. 20.
The announcement comes after Health Minister Tyler Shandro said the province intends to consolidate all remaining municipal dispatch services.
The plan would place Alberta Health Services in charge of all EMS dispatches from centralized call centres.

The current contract between Alberta Health Services (AHS) and local EMS dispatch ends on Jan. 31, 2021.
Speaking on Oct. 16, Mayor Don Scott said he was very disappointed with the government’s decision.
“It is clear to us that the current system best serves our region including how we collaborate with our industry partners and Indigenous communities.”
Mayor Scott joined a delegation from Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Calgary to meet with Minister Shandro in Edmonton on Sept. 24.
