Commercial property owners and business operators located downtown can now request to extend their construction deadlines through the municipality’s Downtown Revitalization Incentives Program.

Due to our region’s short construction season, the program, which offers four 50 per cent reimbursement grants, can now be extended up to Aug. 31, 2021 upon request.

The four grants range from $5,000 to $100,000 and include improving building exteriors or façades, upgrading or rehabilitating the interiors of existing commercial buildings, constructing or upgrading patios, and installing beautification projects.

If your commercial business or property is located downtown, you’re encouraged to schedule a pre-application meeting with a team member from the municipality before Nov. 27.

Otherwise, the deadline for applications is Dec. 31.

The program was developed as a part of downtown revitalization efforts and hopes to help commercial property and business owners, as well as non-profit agencies improve their site, attract new customers and tenants, and ultimately choose to stay downtown.
