The Municipality’s yard waste program will conclude for the season at the end of the week.

The last day residents can set their yard waste materials out for curbside collection is Oct. 30, 2020.

Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, flowers, weeds, plants, small branches and sticks.

The Municipal Landfill’s public drop-off area will continue to accept yard waste at no charge from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Crews will not accept food waste or pumpkins as part of yard waste for curbside pickup, but there are Pumpkin Drop-Off locations throughout Fort McMurray.

Pumpkin Drop-Off

Residents within the urban service area may drop off pumpkins for disposal between Oct. 31 and Nov. 9 at the following locations:

  • Downtown: Sobeys, 19 Riedel St., unit #300
  • Thickwood: Sobeys, 210 Thickwood Blvd.
  • Timberlea: Independent, 251 Powder Dr.

The Landfill will also accept pumpkins along with other recyclables.

The Yard Waste program will re-open again in the spring of 2021.

More information about yard waste is available through Pulse at (780) 743-7000, and on the Municipality’s website.
