Police arrested a man along Highway 63 approaching Thickwood after the suspect led RCMP on a pursuit starting in Timberlea.

During the chase, the driver collided with two police vehicles.

Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call for public assistance on Oct. 29 just after 5:30 p.m. in Eagle Ridge.

RCMP responded to the scene at Sparrow Hawk Drive between Loutit Road and Crane Rise and spoke with a lone male driver of a running pickup truck.

Police would place the driver, 32-year-old Philip Benjamin Douglas Osborne, under arrest for criminal harassment.

Osborne refused the officers’ directions, resisted arrest, and remained inside the vehicle.

He then drove the truck towards Loutit Road and stopped at a red light, where two RCMP officers the front and rear of Osborne’s truck with their police vehicles.

When they attempted to arrest Osborne a second time, he reversed into the police vehicle, drove forward to strike the other one, and then fled again.

A police chase followed after another police officer attempted a traffic stop, but Osborne refused to stop.

RCMP say the truck became immobilized due to its damages heading south on Hwy. 63 approaching the Thickwood Boulevard overpass.

Police arrested Osborne without further incident.

Osborne faces criminal harassment charges, including additional charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting or obstructing an officer, flight from a police officer, and mischief under $5000.

Though released from custody, Osborne is due in court on Nov. 18, 2020.
