The province reported 110 active cases of COVID-19 in Fort McMurray on Thursday.
Outside the Urban Service Area, all cases have recovered for a total of 71 recoveries.
Premier Jason Kenney started Thursday’s COVID-19 update by saying he was he had been in close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus and is awaiting his test results.
He also noted that while the numbers have been nearly doubling since the spring, he doesn’t believe we’ve seen the virus’ peak.
Temporary, time-limited measures are being introduced to help protect the health system and prevent COVID-19.
All indoor group fitness, team sports, and group performance activities will stop Nov. 13 until Nov. 27 in urban centres where spread is rising, including Fort McMurray.
All restaurants, lounges and pubs must stop liquor sales by 10 p.m. and close by 11 p.m., which also includes our region.
Faith-based services must also limit gatherings to one-third of the space’s capacity.
Kenney once again asked Albertans to stop holding social gatherings, saying if they continue the province may consider enforcement action.
The province announced 860 new cases and 10 new deaths.
There are 225 in hospital, 51 are in ICU.
