An investigation is underway involving the Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD).

Around 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 10 Wood Buffalo RCMP received a complaint of “inappropriate materials” being shown during a virtual school assembly.

While RCMP did not confirm which school, that same day a post appeared on Walter and Gladys Hill Elementary School’s Facebook page saying someone took over a Remembrance Day presentation and shared “graphic pornographic images.”

That post appears to have been removed from the school’s page.

According to screenshots of the post, there were up to 30 seconds where students may have been exposed to the images.

It also said as a school it will work on alternative ways to invite families to virtual school events.

RCMP didn’t explain what exactly was displayed and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 780-788-4040.

MyMcMurray reached out to FMPSD and as of publication had not received a response.
