The municipality is ready to share its draft of the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan.

The redevelopment plan will coordinate and set out policies to guide future public and private development and investment in Fort McMurray’s downtown.

The main goal of the plan is to create spaces to be used and enjoyed by people from across the region.

You’re invited to review the draft plan at a virtual open house on Dec. 7 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

You can register for the virtual open house here.

If you’d rather participate in person you can drop by the Urban Market at the Quality Hotel on Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can also visit Peter Pond Mall on Dec. 4 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you’d like to weigh in online you can visit the municipality’s website to complete a survey, participate in a forum, and submit a question.

Over the past 15 to 20 years, feedback from the community has consistently been to have a safe, aesthetically pleasing downtown with better access to the waterfront, as well as opportunities to engage in cultural events and activities.
