Municipality’s Snow Angel program returns for an 11th year

For 11 years the municipality has been running the Snow Angel program to help seniors get out of the house and feel valued.

In 2009, when the program launched as a pilot project, there were only nine homes.

After more than a decade that number has grown to more than 100.

This year, as of publication, 83 homes had already been registered.

The program encourages residents to become Snow Angels to shovel the walkways and driveways of seniors’ homes in the community.

While, it’s expected that snow will be shoveled within 48 hours of each snowfall, you’re encouraged to shovel as soon as possible, giving the senior greater mobility and access to and from their home.

Shovels and ice scrapers are provided by the municipality and will be left outside by each registered senior to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

Anyone from individuals to sports teams can register here to be a Snow Angel.
