FORT MCMURRAY (MyMcMurray) – A GoFundMe page has been started for the family of a man who died after the bulldozer he was operating crashed through the ice of an inactive tailings pond.
Patrick Poitras, 25, was operating the dozer at Suncor’s Base Plant near Fort McMurray on January 13.
The Christina River Construction worker reportedly fell through the ice at approximately 3 p.m. His body was recovered three days later.

Poitras is originally from New Brunswick.
A GoFundMe page created for his family has raised more than $9,000 as of January 19.
The investigation into the tragic incident continues.
