The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary stopped a vehicle just before four o’clock on Sunday, January 24th in Corner Brook, N.L. Police say that the driver stopped the car and then fled on foot. According to a police report they soon arrested the man, who now faces multiple charges including: impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusal, and obstructing a peace officer.

Additionally the man is charged with failing to self isolate after arriving in Newfoundland on Friday, January 22nd. He was in police custody over the weekend, and in addition to his charges received a 90 day driving suspension and had his car impounded. He is due to appear in court on February 9th.

Anyone coming into the province, from other countries or other areas of Canada, must self-isolate for 14 days under public health orders. The man was the second person arrested by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. In March, a woman in Corner Brook was arrested twice for not quarantining.
