Two men charged after drugs, cash seized from Timberlea apartment

FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – Two Fort McMurray men are facing charges after an apartment in Timberlea was searched as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP’s Criminal Intelligence Unit, Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Services, and Alberta RCMP’s Emergency Response Team were all on hand as a search warrant was carried out on January 30 at the apartment on Cartier Road.

According to RCMP, approximately 50 grams of suspected fentanyl was seized, along with drug trafficking paraphernalia and more than $10,000 cash.

Khaled Mohamed Al Zabidi, 23, and Ahmed Hussain Mohammed, 26, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

They’ve been released from custody on conditions pending a February 23 court appearance.
