Now, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council has decided to take a stand.

At Tuesday’s regular meeting, Mayor Don Scott introduced a motion asking the municipality to “provide notice to Alberta Health Services that the RMWB 911 Emergency Communications Centre will no longer transfer the 911 calls to the AHS Provincial Dispatch Centre.”

The motion received unanimous support from the rest of council.

Regional Fire Chief Jody Butz will join Mayor Scott for a press conference on Wednesday morning to provide more details.
