EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – There were four more variant cases of COVID-19 found in Alberta in the past 24 hours.

That brings the province’s total to 255.

Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw says they found 277 new cases of COVID-19 found in about 7,500 tests in the past 24 hours.

Seven more Albertans have died after contracting the virus.

In addition, Hinshaw says the province’s hospitalization numbers have stopped decreasing like last week.

“Our hospitalizations have plateaued over the last few days, which is a reminder we must continue to protect the health system.”

During this difficult time, Hinshaw reminds all those struggling to reach out for support when they need it.

“It is important to remember that we are not alone, even in this pandemic.”

A total of around 152,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered and around 56,500 Albertans are now fully immunized.
