Local face covering bylaw suspended, however masks still mandated by province

FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – The Face Covering Bylaw in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has been suspended, however the provincial mask mandate remains in effect.

As of numbers reported on February 25, there were 40 active cases of COVID-19 in Fort McMurray and two in the surrounding region.

If active cases in the region hit 50 or more again, the Municipal Face Covering Bylaw will automatically be re-activated for at least 30 days. Masks are required on public transit regardless of how many cases there are in the region.
