CALGARY (660 NEWS) Monday is International Women’s Day, but a new survey suggests women still have a long way to go in the tech sector.

The survey conducted by SAP Canada shows that while women in technology have experienced a more positive work life compared to those outside the field, they continue to worry about their long term growth.

The report said 48 per cent of women in tech agree their career growth or goals have been stunted, which is higher than those in non-tech roles.

It said younger generations, 53 per cent, are more likely to agree that their career goals have been halted when compared to older generations

Around 78 per cent of women in tech said it’s important their employer offers career growth workshops or programs while 44 per cent of respondents agree tech companies don’t want to hire women.

This sentiment was echoed stronger among those in middle seniority roles and those working at smaller companies.

The report showed that more needs to be done to support the growth and advancement of female employees post-pandemic.
