More than 500 grams of cocaine seized in Fort McMurray drug bust

FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – Nearly $80,000 worth of drugs and cash, including more than 500 grams of cocaine, has been seized after a recent drug bust in Fort McMurray.

Members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team and the Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section searched two homes in the Thickwood neighbourhood on February 24, following a two-month long investigation into suspected drug activity.

According to an ALERT press release, almost $30,000 cash, 522 grams of cocaine, prohibited body armour, and conducted energy weapons were all seized and three people were arrested.

Amanullah Khan, a 29-year-old man from Calgary, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of body armour, and obstructing a peace officer.

Jennifer Stacey, a 28-year-old woman from Fort McMurray, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of proceeds of crime.

James Jackman, a 53-year-old man from Fort McMurray, is charged with a single count of drug trafficking.

“Organized crime and drug trafficking brings violence, property crime, addiction, and health consequences to our communities. ALERT will continue to work alongside Wood Buffalo RCMP to disrupt the region’s drug trade,” said Inspector Sean Boser, ALERT Regional teams.
