CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Alberta’s vaccination booking services are now online and it seems to have avoided the messy launch that it had the first time.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) said over 10,000 people have already signed up for their vaccine appointments since the site launched at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Queuing technology has been added to the booking tool. The tool tells you how many people are waiting before you and if your wait is longer than an hour. There are minimal waits in off times – after 5 p.m. and before 7 a.m.

On Feb. 24, AHS opened vaccine appointments for those 75 and older but hundreds of Albertans reported delays on the site, even crashing at times.
Despite the glitches, over 20,000 appointments were booked online or through Health Link.

The bookings are for those wanting the AstraZeneca vaccine and are open to Albertans aged 50 to 64 and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people aged 35 to 49 who have no severe chronic illnesses. Those bookings, though, are only being done through 811.
Any Albertan who wishes not to take the AstraZeneca vaccine will have to wait until May to receive the Pfizer or Moderna shots.
