Province lays outs plans for Phase 2B of vaccine rollout

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Dr. Deena Hinshaw laid out the province’s plans for Phase 2B of its vaccine rollout on Monday.

The list of eligible Albertans is a long one that looks after many Albertans who suffer from certain high-risk underlying health conditions.

Albertans born from 1957 to 2005 with any of these conditions will be able to book in for a vaccine once the next stage begins.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw says a doctor’s or pharmacist’s note will not be needed to get the shot, instead, the province will be using the honour system, hoping Albertans who say they have any of the listed health issues, actually have them.

Vaccine appointments for Phase 2C will take place after Phase 2B has been completed and will include a variety of care workers.

The province estimates there are about 1 million people who qualify.

Stage 2B is expected to begin in April.

The update on the vaccine rollout comes as the province records 364 new cases of COVID-19, including 65 new cases of the B.1.1.7 variant.

Three new deaths were also recorded over the last 24 hours.
