FORT MCMURRAY (660NEWS) – Wood Buffalo residents are invited to join a region-wide virtual town hall for policing priorities announcement.

Mounties have identified their policing priorities for 2021-2022 and say they look forward to announcing these priorities to people living in the region in a virtual town hall being held next week.

“I want to be very transparent in sharing these policing priorities with Wood Buffalo residents as our staff works hard to provide the best service possible to our communities,” said Mark Hancock, Officer in Charge of the Wood Buffalo Detachment.

Hancock says the RCMP Policing Priorities Survey identified what is most important to the community at this time and the police will share that plan for the new fiscal year through this virtual live event.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the RCMP will host the announcement of their annual performance plan through a virtual town hall on May 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In addition to the virtual town hall, Wood Buffalo residents are invited to learn how the new policing priorities will impact their community and share feedback in an online forum through Participate Wood Buffalo from May 13 to June 30.
