Yard waste collection starts for the season May 11

Starting Tuesday, May 11, curbside collection will include the pick-up of yard waste material, including grass clippings, leaves, flowers, weeds, plants and small twigs and sticks. All yard waste must be put inside brown paper yard waste bags and placed at the curb beside collection bins on your regularly scheduled collection day.

Please do not put kitchen food scraps, pet waste or non-organic garden waste such as broken plant pots into yard waste bags. Commercial yard waste is also not accepted.

Please do not place yard waste inside of collection bins or use plastic or compostable bags. These bags are not compatible with the shredding machines at the landfill.

Each household can place up to four bags (16 kg) of yard waste at the curb each week for collection. If extra bags are put out, the curbside crews will issue a notification advising of the exceedance, and the extra bags will not be picked up.

Curbside yard waste collection will run until the fall.

The public drop off area at the Municipal landfill continues to accept yard waste at no charge year-round, seven days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
