CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Alberta identified 1,980 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

The new cases come on nearly 19,000 tests, giving the province a positivity rate of more than 10.5 per cent for the last day.

Currently, there are 24,850 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.

There are now 659 people in hospital, with 150 in the ICU.

Four additional deaths were reported on Friday.

Vaccine distribution hit a new high over the last 24 hours, with 59,730 doses of COVID-19 vaccine being administered.

Alberta has now administered nearly 1.8 million vaccines to date, with an even bigger expansion coming on Monday when those 12 years of age and older will be eligible to book in for their appointment.
