FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has adopted a new Community Standards Bylaw.
The new bylaw combines and replaces separate, previously existing ones regarding Nuisance Property, Noise, Nuisance Weeds, Public Disturbance, and multiple sections of the Roads and Transportation Bylaw.
“The majority of regulations included in the Community Standards Bylaw have been in place for years,” stated Community and Protective Services Director Deanne Bergey in a news release. “The CSB combines these regulations in one place, making it easier for residents to find the information and make informed decisions that improve our neighbourhoods.”
The Community Standards Bylaw states that noise likely to disturb the peace cannot be made before 7 a.m. or after 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, or before 9 a.m. and after 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays. This includes residential construction noise.
Also, parked vehicles cannot idle in residential areas for longer than 30 minutes.
The bylaw also regulates things like littering, loitering, and panhandling.
