CALGARY — More than 60 per cent of Albertans 12 and older have now been vaccinated with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
This would mean, that in line with the province’s “Open For Summer” plan, as long as Alberta can dip below 500 hospitalizations, the province could jump into Stage 2 come June 10.

The province is set to enter Stage 1 of its reopening plan on June 1.
Upon entering the first stage, Albertans will once again be allowed to head to patios for outdoor dining with up to four people, outdoor social gatherings can now be increased to ten people, and outdoor physical, performance and recreational activities for all ages are permitted with up to 10 distanced people.
These changes will complement the lifting of other restrictions on retail capacity, funeral and wedding services, as well as personal and wellness services.

On Friday, COVID-19 numbers continued their decline in Alberta with 513 new cases being reported.
The new cases come after 7,703 tests.
The province’s active case count also dipped significantly to 8,760. It’s the first time Alberta has been below 10,000 active cases since nearly two months ago on Apr. 4.

Hospitalizations saw a dip as well, with 517 people now in hospital, and 147 in the ICU.
An additional seven deaths were reported on Friday.
As for vaccinations, over the last day, Alberta administered 47,265 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Over 51 per cent of all Albertans have now been at least partially immunized.
