Alberta identifies 313 new COVID-19 cases, PR at 3.7%

CALGARY — Alberta has identified 313 new COVID-19 cases following the completion of more than 8,500 tests.

The province’s positivity rate over the last day was roughly 3.7 per cent.

Active cases saw a slight drop since Tuesday, with active infections now at 4,204.

There are now 329 people in hospital with COVID-19, with 83 people now in the ICU.

An additional five deaths were reported on Wednesday.

As for vaccination numbers, the province administered 34,636 vaccine doses over the last day.

In total, Alberta has administered nearly 3.16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Around 67.2 per cent of Alberta’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Alberta is set to enter Stage 2 of its reopening plan on Thursday, and with the province close to the next vaccine threshold, at 70 per cent of the eligible population vaccinated, a jump into Stage 3 could already be on the horizon.
