At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Foothills County RCMP responded to a report of shots fired inside a business in the High River Industrial Park.

According to a press release, a man wearing all black and a mask entered the business and fired shots from a pistol.

No one was injured and the suspect fled in a dark-coloured sedan. A vehicle matching the description was located in a rural area travelling at a high rate of speed.

Officers stopped the vehicle and placed both occupants under arrest.

Keon Terrance Alexander, 21, and Zaid Muhammad Azam, 20, both of Fort McMurray remain in custody on the following charges:

  • Attempted murder (x3)
  • Use of a firearm during the commission of an offence
  • Carless use of a firearm

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

Meantime, RCMP say the same business was the target of another shooting the next day.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a man got out of a car on the street and fired a shot gun. He got back in the car, described as a four-door silver or grey Hyundai covered in mud and dust, and sped away.

The suspect is described as having dark skin and was wearing a light-coloured plaid jacket and a ball cap.

RCMP believe these shootings were targeted and say there is no immediate risk to the public.
