EDMONTON – Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw says they are trying to keep track of how many Albertans have received COVID-19 vaccinations outside of the country, as this will factor into our overall vaccine data.

This is so the province can get a better picture of the exact number of Albertans who have received their shot, which could affect the threshold needed to move onto the next stage of reopening.

“We expect that there are thousands of snowbird Albertans who received a vaccination while they were away,” Hinshaw said.

“We ask that they register their vaccination with AHS, both so that they can ensure they get their second dose—if they have not already received it—but also so we know how many people have actually been vaccinated.”

Hinshaw says if you got the first shot outside Alberta, bring the record of that shot to your second dose appointment, and if you have received both doses already, then bring the proof to a public health clinic so it can be entered into the system.
