Alberta identifies 115 new COVID-19 cases, lowest single-day case count in nine months

CALGARY — Alberta continues to push through to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic tunnel, and that was evident following Monday’s COVID-19 numbers update.

The province identified just 115 new cases following the completion of 2,270 tests. A positivity rate of roughly 3.5 per cent.

That’s the lowest single-day case count Alberta has seen since Sept. 11, 2020 when 115 cases were also reported.

Active infections also saw a decrease, now sitting at 3,089.

As for hospitalization numbers, there are now 270 people in hospital, with 73 people in the ICU.

On another positive note, there were no additional deaths reported on Monday.

The province administered 27,122 vaccine doses over the last 24 hours. Though, just 3,537 were first doses, which is the lowest number of first doses administered in a single day since Feb. 23.

To date, 68.8 per cent of all eligible Albertans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
