Two dozen temperature records broken across Alberta on Monday

Bright sun with beautiful beams in the blue sky with clouds.

CALGARY — Alberta was bathing in sunlight Monday afternoon — so much, in fact, that two dozen different temperature records were broken because of the heat.

For Calgary, there was a new record set at Canada Olympic Park, with temperatures hitting 31 degrees. Breaking the record set back in 1987.

One of the hottest spots in the province on Monday was Medicine Hat, where temperatures reached 37.6 degrees — breaking a nearly 90-year-old record.

Several areas across the province just barely surpassed the previous record by a degree or two, but the Milk River Area, located just north of the U.S. border, shattered it’s previous record by nearly 8 degrees.

While it may not have been listed on the record-breaking list, the Grassy Lakes area, located between Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, wasn’t just the hottest spot in the province, but the hottest spot in the entire country.

Environment Canada recorded the area reaching 38.2 degrees on Monday.
