The AJHL has released the official schedule for the 2021-2022 season. After a challenging and convoluted 2020-2021 season that saw multiple stoppages of play, the league will return to a 60 game, inter-divisional schedule. The league will also welcome the Blackfalds Bulldogs to the AJHL for its inaugural season.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons will begin their season on the road with back-to-back games in Whitecourt against the Wolverines on September 17th and 18th. The MOB will play their home opener on September 24th against the Drayton Valley Thunder. The annual AJHL Showcase will be hosted by the Brooks Bandits from September 30th to October 3rd.

It was an up-and-down season for the Oil Barons last year, as they largely dominated the few games they were able to play. Spiking COVID-19 numbers in Fort McMurray forced an end to their season in April. The team will be losing its two top scorers from last season in Michael Hodge and Hunter Lamb, along with alternate captain Max Struss due to the players aging out, however many players from last year are expected to return to form a competitive team.
