FORT MACLEOD — RCMP in Fort MacLeod are trying to figure out what kind of chemical caused several people to need EMS treatment at an area campground over the weekend.

RCMP responded to the campground around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night after several people reported having difficulty breathing.

Ambulances from several surrounding communities were dispatched and assessed six people. Three people were taken to hospital with respiratory issues.

A preliminary investigation revealed a possible chemical leak from an unknown source in the area.
