CALGARY — Alberta identified 206 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
The new cases come after the completion of 5,429 tests — a positivity rate of roughly 3.8 per cent.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there are now 2,282 active cases of the virus in Alberta.

While active infections continue to rise, severe outcomes from COVID-19 have provided a beacon of hope moving forward.
Over the last 24 hours, no additional deaths were reported and ICU admissions have held steady at 23.
There are currently 97 people in hospital with COVID-19, an increase of seven from Tuesday.

When it comes to active case distribution in the province, Calgary currently has more than triple the amount of active cases than Edmonton with 1,063.
As for vaccinations in Alberta, more than 11,000 doses were administered over the last day, with nearly 3,000 being first dose appointments.
To date, 76.1 per cent of the eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 66 per cent are fully vaccinated.
