Edmonton pair charged after incident north of Fort McMurray

FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – Two Edmonton men are facing charges after an incident north of Fort McMurray on Wednesday.

According to a press release from Wood Buffalo RCMP, a stolen pickup truck and trailer fled during a traffic stop on Highway 63 shortly after 4 p.m.

The vehicle was found abandoned approximately 16 kilometres north of Fort McMurray and the passenger was arrested on scene.

The driver had fled on foot, however he was soon apprehended after Wood Buffalo RCMP Police Dog Services was called in.

Dallas Lee Loney, 37, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x 2
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Flight from police officer
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Explosives possession without lawful excuse x 2
  • Resist/obstruct police officer
  • Possession of suspected Methamphetamine

 

Jonathan Gregory Harvey, 41, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 x 2
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of suspected Methamphetamine
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Explosives possession without lawful excuse x 2

 

The two men have been released from custody and are due back in Fort McMurray provincial court on September 8.
