CALGARY — Alberta reported 629 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday — and while the cases reported are lower than the last few days — the positivity rate is raising some concerns.

The new numbers come after 6,010 tests were completed, a positivity rate of around 10.5 per cent.

That rate of positive tests hasn’t been seen since mid-May.

Active cases also continue to steadily increase — with 7,931 active infections in the province as of Tuesday afternoon.

Of positive cases in the province, Edmonton is fast approaching Calgary for the lead.

Last week, Edmonton sat a few hundred cases back of the top spot, but in the last few days, has seen a rise in active infections — with 1,780 — which isn’t far behind Calgary with 1,807.
